SUPPORT WORKER

This will include: helping to identify emotional and social requirements of tenants, helping develop skills with personal hygiene; dress; household tasks; preparation of meals; money management; claming benefits; socialising and  acting as an advocate.

2.            To help residents develop and maintain contact with relevant services and sources of support such as G..P.s, Social Workers and relatives.

3.             To maintain residents records and files and keep them secure.

4.             To assist in the collection of residents charges and in accounting for project and household expenditure, as required     by the Team Leader.


DUTIES

1.          Participating in the “on call “ rota

2.       To help ensure the safety of the premises, to know the fire procedures and participate in fire drills.

3.          To participate with other staff in the day to day running of the project.

4.          To help residents find appropriate move on accommodation.

5.          To participate in follow – up work with residents who have moved on.

6.          To participate in meetings as appropriate.  These will include staff meetings, house meetings, supervision, training and others, as agreed with the  Team Leader

7.          To participate in developing and maintaining good public relationships.

8.          To encourage residents to keep the house in good order and to report faults or damage to the appropriate authority.

9.          To ensure that home supplies such as cleaning materials are purchased as required.


OTHER FEATURES OF THE POST

1.         With the endorsement of Torfaen MIND Executive Committee the post holder may represent Torfaen MIND in  various for                 forums.  The Worker will be expected tomay represent Torfaen MIND in various forums.  The Worker will be  expected to
            encourage the participation of Members and Volunteers in such representational tasks.

3.         The post holder will work as part of a team based at Torfaen MIND Housing Support Service

4.         The work of Torfaen MIND changes over time and it is not possible to describe all the responsibilities of the Worker.  It                   is to be expected that the Worker will be called upon to take on the responsibilities and tasks in furtherrance of the main                  purpose and duties of the post

5.         With the endorsement of Torfaen MIND Executive Committee the post holder will be expexted to attend in house                      and external training to enhance and encourage personal developement.

ESSENTIAL

Qualifications

1.       NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent

1.         Ability to work alone and on own initiative

4.         The ability to maintain clear and accurate records

5.         Ability to advocate on behalf of service users

6.         A good understanding of household budgeting and basic life skills i.e cooking  cleaning, shopping

9.         Experience of working as part of a team

10        An understanding of equal opportunities

Skills and Experience

DESIRABLE           

1.         Basic first aid

Other Requirements:

  1.     The post holder will be expected to attend any appropriate training courses which could mean nights away from home.

       2.       Current driving license and use of a car essential.

       3.       The ability when required to work outside of normal working hours – evenings or week – ends

JOB DESCRIPTION

RELEIF COMMUNITY/HOUSING WORKER

DURATION                             Relief (As and when required) 

This position has been set up to provide extra support to Floating support and housing,  To enable people: to live independently in their own home; to manage their mental health; to enhance the quality of their everyday lives and to maintain their tenancies.

3.         To ensure that clients have accurate information on their own mental health.

3.         In consultation with the client, develop a contract dependent upon the        individual's needs.

4.         To gather relevant information on local community facilities and services.

5.         To liase with relevant support services after full consultation with the resident.

6.         To offer and give practical assistance where required and appropriate.

7.         To offer and give support and encouragement.

10.       To manage a caseload as directed by the floating Support Manager


Part Time Administrator - Position filled

10 hrs per week T.B.A

£11,961 Pro Rata, plus 6% non contributory Pension

To Provide administrative support to the counselling Manager.

Will have particular responsibility for maintaining Access Data Base.

Essential: Minimum 5 GCSE to include Maths and English, Clait Certificate (or Similar).

Service Manager - Position Filled


37 hrs £26,835- £29,728 plus 6% non contributory Pension


Are you the sort of person who thrives on complex challenges?


Torfaen Mind is entering an exciting new phase with the development of a flagship Mental Health Wellbeing Centre. We are looking for an experienced Manager to play a major part in this.


You will also have a leading role in the development and delivery of existing services in Torfaen including Tenancy Support, Housing, Counselling and Day Services.


You will need a Social Work, Nursing or equivalent qualification, experience of management in a similar service and an understanding of mental health issues.

 BASED AT                The administrative base is at 24 George Street, Pontypool but it is expected that most duties will be carried out in the projects.


 HOURS:                                 2 x 30 x 1 x 37 Hours per week

 SALARY:                             £18,217 - £20,591 Pro Rata
